Bodies in Revolution
After visiting Poland on a Jewish Identity Exploration trip and learning about the horrors of the Holocaust along with modern day Holocaust remembrance efforts, I am curious about how Holocaust art and photography influences current perceptions on the effects of the Holocaust. I will use knowledge gained from Dr. Munger’s Unit 6 on brain science and abstract art, Dr. Bory’s Unit 5 exploring how nude art dance forms can influence the human definition of humanity, and Dr. Tamura’s Unit 3 on disturbing photography to explain this phenomenon. Seeing visual representation and photography of concentration camp sufferings and torture techniques will either elicit an intense, empathetic emotion within the viewer or could oversaturate and overwhelm a viewer in pacification. Art is an impactful way to ensure an audience is remembering and discussing the Holocaust, thus it is an important communication tactic to research.
